Meet Chef Kaz Sato, the creative mind behind Kai Sushi in Santa Barbara! With a rich history in the local dining scene—including his previous ventures at Sato’s Kitchen and Montecito’s Restaurant Kai—Chef Sato has been delighting food lovers since opening Kai Sushi in 2000. Hailing from Tokyo, Japan, Chef Sato honed his culinary skills at Shinjuku Culinary School and gained invaluable experience working in the renowned fish market of Jogashima. His career soared when he joined the prestigious Tokyo Kaikan and later took on the challenge of opening a restaurant in Los Angeles. After serving as head chef at Sushi Zen in Oregon, he settled in Santa Barbara and brought his passion for traditional Japanese cuisine to life.
